Chat with any PDF using AI — and see its sources

Ask questions about a document, get instant summaries, and translate long reports. Kameleo's AI cites the exact pages it used, so you can trust the answer.

Reading a 40-page report to find one number is a waste of time. Chat with PDF lets you ask in plain language — “what were Q3 revenue and the biggest risk?” — and get an answer that points to the exact pages it came from, so you can verify it in one click instead of taking it on faith.

Only the text you're asking about is sent to the language model (never the raw file), your document is not used to train any model, and the free tier is genuinely useful. For confidential work you can upgrade to answers powered by Claude — the same private-by-design approach, higher quality.

Cites its sources

Every answer points to the exact pages it used, so you can verify it instead of trusting a black box.

Private by design

Only extracted text — never your file — is sent to the model, and your document never trains a public model.

Summaries in seconds

Condense long contracts and reports, pull out key figures, and turn dense documents into a quick brief.

Ask in any language

Question a document and get answers in your language, and translate long passages on the fly.

How to chat with pdf in three steps

  1. Open your PDF in Kameleo — the text is read in your browser.
  2. Ask a question in plain language, or tap Summarize for an instant overview.
  3. Read the answer and click the cited page numbers to check the source for yourself.

Frequently asked questions

Is chatting with a PDF free?

Yes. The free AI (powered by Cloudflare Workers AI) gives you a daily allowance of questions and summaries at no cost. A Claude-powered add-on is available for higher-quality answers.

Is my document sent anywhere?

AI needs a language model, which can't run in a browser, so the relevant extracted text — never the file itself — is sent to the AI endpoint to answer your question. The raw PDF is never uploaded, and prompts aren't stored or used for training.

How do the citations work?

The assistant tells you which pages it read to produce each answer, and those page references are clickable so you can jump straight to the source and verify.

Will my file be used to train AI?

No. Your document and prompts are not used to train any model. They are used only to answer your immediate question.

What can I ask it to do?

Ask specific questions, request a summary of a long report, pull out figures or dates, generate study questions, or translate passages into another language.

What's the difference between the free AI and Claude?

The free AI handles everyday questions well. The Claude add-on gives more accurate, nuanced answers on complex or high-stakes documents, with the same private-by-design handling.
